CHILDREN’S PERCEPTUAL REASONING SKILLS:

WORK TOWARDS DEVELOPING CHILDREN’S PERCEPTUAL REASONING SKILLS, as a participatory programme.

The programme on 11th June is on PEPAL
Development and Validation using PEPAL (Programme to Evaluate Performance and Learning) as a tool to identify the various methods used for learning needs of non performing students and children with learning difficulties while learning, areas of problems faced by them and also acts as a tool to create a modified, individualized learning programme.
PEPAL IS AN INFORMAL ASSESSMENT
Increasingly, parents, children referred and educators are finding new ways to evaluate students' school performances using informal methods. In an informal assessment several samples of a student's performance are collected, using items drawn from a common curriculum, usually in basic skill subjects of reading, spelling and written expression and mathematics. Such brief tests are called "probes." The student’s performances are measured by a frequency count of, for example, words read, written or sequenced correctly, or math problems answered correctly. The norms used to compare a student's performance have been previously determined by testing random groups of students at each grade level.
The workshop on Visual Perception and PEPAL will be participatory with hands on worksheets wherein the teachers will be have

  • A firsthand experience of understanding the purpose of Visual perception skills.
  • The use of an informal assessment programme to identify learning needs of non performing students in the classroom and help with a create a modified, individualized learning programme.

The objective of the two workshops is to empower teachers in their respective schools so that the children need not be sent from pillar to post for their needs.
